With the current team I would dream of because I find our working styles compatible, the problems I could think of, every bit of work involved, I think I could do a project like SC in 1.5 years (if dedicated full-time). It's a project where I was far too inexperienced to be a part of it in the beginning, but I think if I had the experience I have now, I'd be excited to arrange everything about it from the start. I started working on it during QA, and because I'd already developed something of a system with Trails FC PC and the two project 'systems' didn't match, it threw me off completely and led to lots of problems and stress. Tackling Trails SC years into the project, for example, was extremely difficult because I wasn't part of the translation, editing, scheduling, graphical decisions, organization of terminology, etc. Because of this, I've ended up very particular when it comes to scheduling and anticipating potential roadblocks. It's hard to me to think of just the translation process, just the editing process, just social media, just graphics, just QA, and all the other tasks involved-they all sort of blend together in my head as one overarching plan, and each step is equally important. I don't want to be an editor who disregards the work of the translator or the marketing team or doesn't consider the costs involved with every decision, but rather someone who understands all of those aspects and uses it to better her own work. I really like that, since it allows me to develop in various fields and sort of mentally connect the various tasks together. A big project can teach you a lot, and at XSEED, we tend to wear many hats instead of being strictly one position. For me personally, I think any project with a fan translation would be difficult just due to how my mental process is on a project.įirst, I still consider myself an amateur in the editing field I've helped with many XSEED projects in the past in some form, but in the past have only been lead/sole editor for a handful of titles, which are Lord of Magna: Maiden Heaven, Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim PC, Trails of Cold Steel II, and Trails in the Sky the 3rd. Sometimes it made things work faster, and other times, not so much. For fan translations, I know we've licensed them for smaller projects in the past. I just wanted to comment on the idea of XSEED/fan translation idea. This is my first post on this forum, so please excuse me if anything is formatted strangely or is written incorrectly.
